We are currently recruiting for a Real Estate Lawyer or Senior Real Estate Law Clerk for the position of Underwriter to join our Atlantic Operations in our Halifax office. This position plays an integral role in our company’s dedication to Customer Service excellence.


  • Investigating files flagged for underwriting review and making approval decisions for residential and commercial transactions where fraud flag indicators are present
  • Reviewing title and off-title searches to determine underwriting requirements
  • Drafting underwriting clauses
  • Responding professionally and efficiently to general customer inquiries, questions and problems regarding title insurance coverage
  • Participating in Underwriting and team meetings
  • Assisting with fraud mitigation initiatives
  • Providing high quality service to clients
  • Other responsibilities as required or assigned

Skills & Requirements:

  • Senior Law Clerk with a minimum of 10 years of real estate law firm/transaction experience or equivalent, or;
  • Lawyer with a minimum of 3 years’ experience practicing real estate law
  • Strong title search review capabilities
  • Understanding of the real estate process, title issues and their resolutions
  • Written and verbal proficiency in French is an asset
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and scheduling skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well in a team as well as independently as required
  • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word & Excel)
