As Paralegal, you will work in the Regulatory Affairs Department to provide expertise and hands-on support in a broad range of Paralegal functions including the preparation of applications and filings with the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, general document preparation, research, analysis and tracking of information, organizing and maintaining databases, general administrative services and tracking of regulatory directives and ensuring overall regulatory compliance by examining and analyzing records, reports, practices, policies and documentation as well developing and implementing internal controls, including handling of confidential information.
As a member of the Regulatory Affairs Department you may also be required to participate in project work.
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
Skills, Capabilities, and Experience:
You are an experienced Paralegal with a minimum of 5 years experience in that role. Specific Paralegal training is mandatory. You must also be highly organized, handle pressure well, have the ability to handle multiple projects and understand the importance of deadlines. You must also know how to relate to people in a variety of situations, be highly trustworthy, discreet, and use good judgment. You demonstrate effective communication by applying excellent writing and comprehension skills. Customer service, problem solving and decision making skills are essential. You also possess strong analytical and quantitative skills and are attentive to detail in a dynamic environment.
You are proactive, results and team-oriented, possess a high level of energy and are committed to learning. Our successful candidate is customer-focused and works well both independently and on teams. Proficiency in the MS Office Suite of software (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook), and Internet Explorer are mandatory.
